We would like to inform that on the 20th of November, 2020 the engineers Marina Piatto and Patrícia Cota Gomes assumed the executive office of Imaflora (Institute of Forestry and Agricultural Management and Certification), as executive director and deputy executive director, respectively.
Marina is graduated in Agronomic Engineering by USP (University of São Paulo), she also holds a master’s degree in Tropical Agriculture by the University of Bonn, in Germany, and has worked for over fifteen years in the areas of agriculture and livestock supply chains as well as in climate change.
Piatto has been focus on deforestation free production, low carbon farming practices and social rights in the commodities sector such as soybeans and livestock in the Amazon Forest and the cerrado.
Patrícia started her path with Imaflora as an auditor nearly twenty years ago, she has a vast knowledge and experience working in the Brazilian Amazon in projects of valorization of both traditional and indigenous groups.
She graduated in engineering and holds a master’s degree in tropical forest management by the Federal University of Viçosa (Universidade Federal de Viçosa), Gomes is the coordinator of Origens Brasil ®, which was awarded by ONU. Origens Brasil ® is now found in 4 territories, 36 protected areas, which adds up to 51 million hectares and has over 1,800 producers.
Imaflora was led by the agronomic engineer Roberto Hoffmann Palmieri, who will remain in the institution managing the subject of protected areas. Imaflora thanks Palmieri and recognizes the work he has developed.
